WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!

We have several positions open or will be open next year on Council.  By distributing the effort over many people, we can keep this from becoming a burden for any one person.

Webmaster

The Webmaster is responsible for maintaining the wilmski.org website. This involves adding new information, deleting obsolete information, and updating as changes occur in the club. The information is a closely coordinated effort between the Communications Team (Newsletter and Email Editors). Webmaster is a voting position on Council and is expected to attend all monthly Council meetings as possible.

Duties:

  • Weekly updates mostly gathered from information in the weekly Blast.

  • Monthly updates gathered from information in the monthly Snow Plow Scrapings.

  • Ongoing updates as instructed by Council or club members conducting activities for the Club.

Ongoing updates include but are not limited to –

Keep home page fresh
Change Calendar as needed
Create interesting and accurate Trip pages; timely updates as trip circumstances change
Create pages for the many activities offered by the Club
Maintain oversight of the web hosting and domain name companies.

  • Maintain the wilmingtonskiclub.webmaster@gmail.com e-mail account.

  • Maintain list of userids/passwords used for all electronic platforms used by the Club.

Summer Trips Coordinator

The newly-created summer trips coordinator is a volunteer role responsible for overseeing, planning and organizing spring, summer, or autumn non-ski trips for the Club that last longer than one day. This person will be a member of the club's Council and they will submit for Council approval such details as trip dates and locations, number of seats offered, and sign-up dates.

Duties:

  •  Research and select destinations based on personal experience, Club survey results, and coordination with Council.

  •  Once the destinations are selected, propose them to Council for approval.

  •  Obtain bids from multiple tour operators which will arrange transportation and book accommodations.

  •  Select tour operator based on received quotes, with Council approval.

  • Obtain contract signatures from the Club president, and submit initial deposit check requests.

  • Present the trip to qualified trip leaders and select a leader (and assistant leader if applicable.)

  •  In conjunction with the selected leader(s), report trip status to Council monthly, including # of signups, “go/no-go” dates, and any problems or concerns.

The type of trips WSC is envisioning include:

  • Cruises

  • Hikes

  • Historic tours

  • Cycling

  • Rafting/kayaking

  • Train excursions

  • Boating/sailing

  • Anything else you can dream up!

Please contact Kurt or Anne or any other member of Council if this sounds like a fun undertaking that interest you.
