President’s Message
Hello everyone,
How about this weather!Summer one day and snow the next. Shame on you for putting your skis away. I was going to check and see if we could get a bus. But by Friday all the snow will probably have melted. Oh well, maybe next week.
Speaking of next week... Hobie Days are fast approaching. Please check the Scrapings and get your checks in the mail for the Hobie Day that you would like to attend. Except for having been cancelled due to a hurricane, they are always a lot of fun.
Elections are coming up and I believe that we have at least one individual for each of the elected positions except for the position of president. Sadly, I will not be able to run for president again. There is currently a two-term maximum.
Craig and Sandy are getting ready to send out another survey "Where do you want to go in 2013?" I have seen the preliminary list and it is awesome. One item that has been discussed is that a lot of the places where we think individuals want to go require multiple connections followed by ground travel. The conclusion has been that this cannot be avoided unless we go back to only a handful of places year after year (this could and would become boring). Think about ‘the travel that will be involved and is that acceptable’ when you cast your votes as to where you would like to go next year.
Remember, the ski trips require trip leaders and co-leaders. If you are interested, I suggest you come out to the next Council Meeting and become involved. If you have not yet been a leader or a co-leader of a Long Trip, then volunteer to co-lead one of the Day Trips this year. Also, remember that besides the five elected Council positions there are numerous other positions where we require assistance. If we do not have enough volunteers on the Council then we will not have a quorum and your Council cannot function. So "Get Involved."
In case you missed the last meeting, Clyde Dossett talked about the Delaware Senior Olympics. Check out DSO if you have a competitive spirit and want to stay in shape.
I will be leaving Wilmington in the very near future to begin a new job. It has been fun being part of the Wilmington Ski Club and I hope that I am lucky enough to find another group of individuals like you.
Tschüss,
Bob Viscup
