Wilmington Ski Club

We’re all about skiing, boarding and a whole lot more!

Welcome to the Wilmington Ski Club website.

Yes…... We do love to ski and snowboard.

Why? We love the smell of clean, fresh mountain air. We love the beauty of the snow and trees. We love the thrill of challenging our bodies and minds as we improve our skills. We love the friends that we meet through skiing. What could be better than that? If this sounds appealing to you, please join us!

The Wilmington Ski Club meets monthly on the second Wednesday evening. Socializing begins at 7:30pm; the business meeting starts at 8pm.  Meeting location is at-

Hockessin Memorial Hall

(Unless Stated otherwise below)

Presidents message

Feb 2010

Hi Everyone,

My favorite time of year – mid season!  Skiing/riding activities are abundant and the snow is flying everywhere!  We had a tremendously successful January trip to Elk Mtn, with over 50 people on the bus.  We actually had to turn some folks away, so make sure you sign up in plenty of time for our upcoming trips:  Sno Mtn. on 2/6, Elk Mtn. 2/19, and Blue Mtn. Feb 25.  Even if you can’t get away for a long trip, the club has plenty of options for you.

I have not spoken to anyone on the Utah trip, but it looks like they had a TON of snow.  Hope they could get up the canyons! By the way, I have heard the comment in the past “There’s too much snow”.  The only time this is true is when you can’t get to the mountain, or the area can’t open.  If it’s a powder day, and you “can’t ski/ride powder” – TAKE A LESSSON!  Powder skiing/riding is one of the great pleasures in life.  It’s not difficult once you get used to it.  Besides, it’s nice and soft when you fall – you usually can’t say that about the Poconos!

On the home front, the January meeting featured a talk by a life coach, who gave us ways to start improving our lives in positive ways.  The February meeting will feature (of course) Chocolate!  We’ll have our annual chocolate tasting so bring in your favorite confectionary delights, and we’ll throw our diets out the window for one night!

Finally, I would like to thank everyone who has come forward to lead & co-lead our day trips.  We’re well on our way to another great day trip season, and without your efforts, it could not happen.

Get out there and go for it!!
