Wilmington Ski Club Joins with Banchi Tours and Blue Ridge Ski Council Trip

status: completed

We had a female bus driver, named Monica or Mo, who told us to behave for our 7.5 hour bus ride to Killington. Our buddies on the bus were from “Bal timore” ski club, who did not say “Balmore,” so the group was from the burbs. We wiped down our area on the bus seats with Lysol wipes, in those early stages of the corona virus.

Attendees also came by car and beat us to the tables at the final party the last night.

Thanks to Banchi, we had apres ski drinks, happy hours, and heavy appetizers with 7 other ski clubs from Richmond, DC, and Baltimore, totaling 120 fun-loving strangers who are now our friends. We tried to poach a few new members to WSC who live in southern DE.

We had the youngest members on the trip, Brandt Berger and George Roberts at 14, but did not have the oldest member on the trip (estimated age: 84).

Marie cheered at the champion pool game at Killington Mountain Lodge, where after the white ball went into the pocket over 7 times, we kept laughing, and quit counting.

We had a whirlpool with dead flies the first day; they had woken up to 60-degree air temps as several of our group lounged in the pool and noted the floating flies.

Despite only a small amount of fresh snow, we had snow from snow-making machines that worked every night, We had 1 inch of rain the third evening, but the ice warmed up to snow the next day for good skiing.

Dave Berger every day kept saying wonderful ski conditions with a broad beaming smile, Barbara Fulton kept us laughing with her witty comments, and we had a great time! Too bad you were not there.
