Every year at least a few members need to cancel from a trip at the last minute, or are injured on a trip. Unfortunately, there is often a financial loss that just adds insult to injury for those members.

 

The week-long ski trips typically have trip insurance available through their tour operators or travel agents. If you are interested in purchasing trip insurance, ask your trip leader for the information at trip sign-ups. There is generally a purchase deadline, so it is important to ask about it when you sign up.

 

The prices vary, as each trip is contracted with a different tour operator or travel agent, so each trip will have a different insurance policy to offer.

 

The council and trip leaders just want to make you aware of the availability of this insurance. As always, this is strictly optional, but as the cost of travel goes up, it may be something for the members to think about. The travel insurance generally provides coverage for such things as necessary cancellation from the trip, lost or delayed luggage, missed flights, emergency medical care, and death or dismemberment (let’s not test this one, please!).
