Zermatt  -  a mile high ski Mecca for all levels of skier at the foot of the majestic Matterhorn! Best known for its southern exposure, high snowfall levels and quintessential Swiss charm, Zermatt is an incredible ski destination, one of the top 10 in the world. Ski the three main ski areas of Tiefbach, Aeroleid or Momatt and then ski across the border to another major ski resort, Cervinia, Italy, for lunch!

 

Zermatt offers 190 miles of slopes with 57 lifts. Top elevation is 12,795 ft. and lowest is 5,315 ft. There are 22% beginner slopes, 60% intermediate and 18% expert. All that plus all of Cervinia too on your lift ticket!  Zermatt city is free of cars and trucks and offers charming Swiss restaurants, bars and pubs of all kinds. Check out Grampi’s Bar or the Post Hotel for live music up to 4 am. 

 

Stay at the 4 star Hotel Ambassador. It offers fantastic views of the Matterhorn Peak and is just 150 ft. from the Gornergratbahn Railroad Lift station and the bus stop. It is away from the night life area and near your arriving train station. The hotel rooms are large and have bath, WC, TV, double beds that split to 2 single beds, telephone and most have a balcony. There is a dining room, a charming bar, fire place and also wi-fi in the lobby. Enjoy the heated swimming pool facility with sauna and fitness room daily.

 

We stay one night in Lucerne, the fabled medieval city on the lake, famous for historical charm, natural and man-made beauty and for shopping. The 4 star Hotel Monopol is centrally located within walking distance to the heart of the old town and famous places.  From Lucerne it’s a short hop to the Zurich airport.
